When we finally emerged from the tent, I retrieved the small skillet I had packed, a portable burner, a package of bacon, and some eggs. Jackson seemed impressed with my forethought, and I might have let it go to my head a little. My ego was appeased. I fried up basically the entire package of bacon and gave us three scrambled eggs each, even remembering to bring a small jug of milk to wash it all down with.
After we scarfed our breakfast, we cleaned up the mess and put the food containers and cooking equipment back in the Jeep. Keeping food out of the open helped ward off animals, especially at night when the raccoons liked to ransack the campsite. Little bastards.
“Hey, isn’t there a hiking trail around here? I thought I saw a sign for it when we entered the valley yesterday.” Jackson walked up beside me to put the last of the things in the vehicle and shut the door. He was dressed in a blue tank top, basketball shorts, and his feet were bare.
“I don’t know. But we can go find out.” I gave him a onceover. “You may want to put on some shoes first, though, Tarzan.”
Throwing me a “duh” look, he walked to the tarp outside the tent and slipped on his sneakers, after first checking for bugs and spiders hiding on the insides. I watched his ass, and the way his shorts hugged it as he bent over, imagining all the things I wanted to do to him. Our escapade from that morning had my ass sore, but the pain was nothing more than a slight discomfort. It surprised me how much I liked bottoming for him. The trepidation I’d previously had for it was almost funny to think about now.
Once he was ready, we took off walking to where the entrance to the trail was located. We passed other campsites, all of the families laughing and chatting amongst themselves. Some of them were grilling burgers and hotdogs, others were playing two-hand-touch football, and one family was just sitting in lawn chairs drinking bottled beer. They were all friendly as we passed them, some waving, and the family playing football even invited us to join. We thanked them for the offer but said maybe next time.
The hiking trail started at the edge of the woods. The sign posted at the beginning of the trail informed us that it wound around the outskirts of the park, expanding approximately two miles.
Looking at Jackson, I grinned. “Want to race?”
The freaking cheater took off at a dead run, getting a nice head start in front of me. So that’s how it’s gonna be? I shook out my arms and legs and began a slow jog behind him, knowing by how fast he had started out running, he would tire soon and I’d be able to catch up. Eventually, I caught up to him, chuckling when I found him bent in an attempt to catch his breath.
“That’s what you get, cheater.
